Balikbayan

A Balikbayan is a Filipino citizen who has been continuously out of the Philippines for a period of at least one (1) year, a Filipino overseas worker, or former Filipino citizen and his or her family, who had been naturalized in a foreign country and comes or returns to the Philippines. The benefits of R.A. No. 6768 as amended by R.A. No. 9174 are extended to the balikbayan’s family, i.e. the spouse and children who are not balikbayan in their own right but who are traveling with a balikbayan to the Philippines.
