The Department of Energy (DOE) is an agency created through Republic Act No. 7638, otherwise known as the “Department of Energy Act of 1992,” and whose functions were expanded by Republic Act No. 9136, otherwise known as the “Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001”. (Sec. 4(e), R.A. No. 11285)
