Informed consent
Under the Philippine HIV and AIDS Policy Act, informed consent refers to the voluntary agreement of a person to undergo or be subjected to a procedure based on full information, whether such permission is written or conveyed verbally. (Sec. 3(y), R.A. No. 11166)
Under the Mental Health Act, informed consent refers to consent voluntarily given by a service user to a plan for treatment, after a full disclosure communicated in plain language by the attending mental health service provider, of the nature, consequences, benefits, and risks of the proposed treatment, as well as available alternatives.
