Under the Special Protection of Children in Situations of Armed Conflict Act, school refers to any structure or space, with or without marked visible boundaries, which is either recognized by the government or known by the community as a learning space for children. (Sec. 5(cc), R.A. No. 11188)
Under the Student-Athletes Protection Act, school refers to an institution recognized by the State which undertakes educational operations such as grade school, high school, college, university, or technical-vocational education and training institution. (Sec. 3(b), R.A. No. 10676)
