Technical-vocational education and training (TVET)

Under the Tulong-Trabaho Act, technical-vocational education and training (TVET) refers to the education or training process involving general education, the study of technologies and related sciences, acquisition of practical skills relating to occupations in various sectors of economic and social life, and comprises formal (organized programs as part of the school system) and nonformal (organized classes outside the school system) approaches. Under the PQF Act, technical vocational education and training (TVET) refers to the education involving the study of technology-related sciences, in addition to general education, as well as the acquisition of practical skills relating to occupations in various sectors of economic life and social life, and which comprises formal (organized programs as part of the school system) and non-formal (organized classes outside the school system) approaches. Under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, technical-vocational education and training (TVET) refers to the education process designed at post-secondary and lower tertiary levels, officially recognized as nondegree programs aimed at preparing technicians, paraprofessionals and other categories of middle-level workers by providing them with a broad range of general education, theoretical, scientific and technological studies, and related job skills training. Under the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Act, technical-vocational education and training (TVET) refers to the post-secondary education or training process which involves, in addition to general education, the study of technical and related fields and the acquisition of practical skills relating to occupations in various sectors, comprising formal (organized programs as part of the school systems) and non-formal (organized classes outside the school system) approaches.
