He might have loved you, but you were too big for him.

It was not your fault that he left.

It was not true that you did not have time for him. You tried your best to fit him in your schedule, but he wanted you on his own terms. He could not understand the demands upon your time your profession imposed.

It was not true that you did not exert effort to show your love for him. You did not ask the client one more question; you did not administer one more test to the patient – because you wanted to be done with your job because he was waiting. But he could not wait, and he had already left when you were done.

It was not true that you loved your career more than him. If he had only known why you wanted to get that permanent position, that promotion – that you wanted a more secure financial future for both of you and the children you were praying for.

If he had been half of a man, he would not have been so selfish to ask you to choose between your career and himself.

You were a successful woman before he came into your life. You never asked him to stay – he was the one who asked to be part of your life, and then he wanted you to leave your dreams behind – dreams that you already had before he was part of your life. He could not, he would not understand that a professional career and being a mother and a wife are not incompatible.

Now he has left you, and you feel incomplete. Don’t. His departure from your life did not make you incomplete, because he was never there to complete your life. He was a mere appendage to you.

He left you for a reason; God allowed him to leave you for a reason.

He might have loved you, but you were too big for him. It was not your fault that he left.
