Just when you thought it could not get worse…
The D614G mutation of the SARS-Cov-2 virus allowed it to create more spikes which it uses to infect human cells, and not only that, makes the spikes more stable. The end result is to make the virus more infectious. The strain of the virus with this mutation is now dominant in the U.S.
I guess this is going to be the end for all of us.
The only silver lining is that this mutation won’t affect significantly the vaccines being developed right now.
